August has been a big month, starting out with my 24th birthday & then getting straight back into lockdown, there's been a lot to take in. So I thought I'd round up some of my fave things that have kept me sane, from books to scents, to movies to skincare. Let's get into it!

The film takes you to a myriad of colourful and picturesque locations around Florida, however this is a stark contrast to the very real and troubling themes that are explored throughout the film. Filmed mostly from a child’s perspective, it maintains a youthful innocence whilst also exposing the reality of the characters world - poverty, violence and the hardships of parenting. The dichotomy between the vibrant locations of Florida and the raw and honest look into the characters life is what makes this film a must watch.

TV show: Shameless

With not much going on in my life with never-ending lockdowns, Shameless provided me with an escape. Not an escape into a perfect and magical world, but an escape into a world that completely engrosses you with drama and tension; and that is the world of the Southside of Chicago. Shameless will make you laugh, cry and shake your head as you follow the characters as they navigate life through the temptations of drugs, sex and money.

This book explores the intersection of these two great artists lives, allowing the reader an insight into their work and political perspectives. It's full of first hand recounts and examples of work from the pair and you'll also spot some famous faces throughout, such as David Hockey and Andy Warhol. A great quote from the book is from Keith Haring when he poetically revealed; "The beauty is knowing when to stop. I choose when to stop. I choose when to stop, but my work is never 'finished' and always 'unfinished'."

A seriously insightful and self aware take on all things gender politics, sustainability + astrology. Also hilarious. Most memorable quote from episode one is"It's not rock & roll to litter".

This song is reminiscent of the love songs I used to play on repeat in high school, in the best way possible. It feels nostalgic, yet nothing like I've heard recently.

I never thought I was ever going to be this passionate about a candle, but here I am. The peony has transcended from my favourite flower and now into my favourite scent too.

Sticking to a multi-step skincare routine can be hard and that's why I love this mist so much. A few quick spritzes and you're good to go. In a second you feel refreshed and calm as the lavender aroma takes over.

There's just something about doing a puzzle on a rainy night, candle glowing and tea steaming. This puzzle will take you down memory lane and remind you of some 90s classics that may have slipped your mind. From the Game Boy to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, this puzzle has got it all.

Beverage : Collagen Coffee

Finally something to make me feel less guilty about my coffee addiction! Not only will this coffee help you stay awake past 3pm, but it also helps your skin glow. Coffee that's good for you...yes please.

See you in September xx
